TIMEOUT: Russell Westbrook and Amar’e Stoudemire have been all over the men’s shows in Paris, but on Sunday, there was a new player on the fashion court. Fresh from winning the NBA Championship with the Golden State Warriors, Andre Iguodala attended the Lanvin show.
“The season’s always kind of conflicted with my schedule. Since we won the championship this year, it kind of interfered with me getting here, so I got here a little late,” said the freshly minted NBA Finals MVP, who was accompanied by his fiancée Christina Gutierrez.
Iguodala, who posed for pictures with Stoudemire (both firmly putting on their game faces), said he was open to collaborating with fashion brands or launching his own label.
“If it gets there, you know. I think a lot of our players have really gotten to this space because of our dress code, so guys have really taken a liking to the fashion world and are seeing how they can expand their brands with some of the design houses,” he said.
The player has yet to be snapped up for a brand campaign, but he’s open to the idea. “If the opportunity presents itself, I’ll try to take advantage of it,” he said.
Unlike some of his peers, Iguodala takes an understated approach to fashion. “I’m already tall, so I don’t need to stand out. So I keep it simple, but Lanvin is kind of a perfect hybrid for me where it is very high-fashion, fashion-forward, but it’s simple, very understated,” he noted.
There’s something else Iguodala likes about Paris: the food. “We’re on a strict diet during the season, so now I get to cheat and we’re eating as much as possible,” he said.
