TIME TRAVEL: Opening Ceremony is branching out from its campaign for wearable technology by turning its attentions toward more traditional wrist accessories. The retailer’s creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim have partnered with Fossil on a co-branded range of analogue watches.
The four designs — three styles for women, as well as one for men — will make their debut at Opening Ceremony’s spring 2016 runway show on Sunday. While Fossil is still finalizing the collection’s pricing, it estimates the designs will retail for between $200 and $300, with merchandise hitting stores in January. The collection is also said to include handbag, small leather goods and curiosities, but additional details could not be learned. Fossil would not release information regarding the size of the collection’s production run, or its manufacturing locations.
Fossil is the manufacturing workhorse behind timepiece successes Michael Kors and Burberry. But unlike in those collections, Opening Ceremony’s designs will be co-branded along with Fossil’s name.

At present, the collaboration is a single-season partnership. Lim told WWD that she hopes the collection is the start of an ongoing relationship with Fossil.
“I think that we are just testing the waters,” she said. “Yes, there could be a big opportunity there and we are excited to explore that. [This collection] is a good way to gauge reaction….We hope this will be a continuation into a category that we think could have a long-term strategy.”
