FALL IN PLACE: Fern Mallis will help get New York Fashion Week rolling Tuesday night with a 92Y question-and-answer with Iman. The entrepreneurial model celebrated her 60th birthday a few months ago. Another business-minded designer favorite, Cindy Crawford, will catch up with Mallis at the Upper East Side Y on Sept. 29, the launch date of her new book, “Becoming.” Nearing her 50th birthday in February, the supermodel will be making the rounds, detailing how her career came to be.
Mallis has lined up a very familiar face in her own life, Stan Herman, for the Nov. 17 installment of her “Fashion Icons” talks. She first met Herman in 1969, when she was a Mademoiselle guest editor assigned to interview the designer. (Herman has a sleepwear collection sold on QVC and has designed uniforms for UPS and various airlines for decades.) Years later, the pair worked more closely together at the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Mallis even rented a small cottage on his Southampton property for six years in the early Nineties and has owned one nearby for 18 years. “As far as I’m concerned, Stan’s a real insider-insider. He’s been through all of the industry’s changes and growth and he’s still on the board at the CFDA,” Mallis said. “And he really knows where all the bones are buried.”

On Dec. 3, Mallis will welcome to the East 92nd Street stage her youngest guest to date — Zac Posen. Having seen his career soar early on, before “taking a few hits and arrows,” Posen has since regrouped and “come back stronger than ever,” Mallis said. In addition to his own labels, Posen has taken on the role of Brooks Brothers’ creative director for women’s. He is also “stepping on Stan’s territory a little, by designing Delta’s uniforms, Mallis said. “Almost as much as I love Zac’s clothes, I am almost as in love with his Pinterest feed, ‘Cooking with Zac.’ I don’t know how he has the time to cook all of these amazing things. But I hope there’s a cook book in the offing.”
