PARIS — Parfums Lolita Lempicka has reason to celebrate. Among other good news, especially about sales performance, the brand turns 10 this year.
Lempicka has helped boost business for its license holder Pacific Creation Parfum Beauté, which increased wholesale sales 25 percent, to 60 million euros, or $75 million at average yearly exchange, last year versus 2005.
Led by its second women’s scent, dubbed L, which made its debut last March, the designer-fragrance brand Lolita Lempicka grew sales 60 percent year-on-year. In France, the brand’s sales increased by 40 percent and internationally, by 70 percent.
Catherine Dauphin, Pacific Creation Parfum Beauté’s president, said L’s 50-ml. flacon was the third best-selling women’s scent in France in euros, citing statistics from sales tracking firm The NPD Group.
Dauphin added that L did not cannibalize sales of Lolita Lempicka’s first signature scent, which was launched in 1997. Sales of that fragrance increased 15 percent internationally in 2006. And Lolita Lempicka was ranked fourth in France by the end of last year, thanks to a movie and print ad campaign that ran from October to December 2006, according to NPD.
As it celebrates its first decade of business, the brand will introduce in March a limited edition gift set, including three 20-ml. bottles of its Lolita Lempicka scent that was reworked to include either licorice, amarene (a cherry note) or violet notes, as well as a 50-ml. bottle of the original juice, for 125 euros, or $163 at current exchange.
Advertising for Lempicka will be bulked up, and there will be a TV launch of Lolita Lempicka ads, which formerly were only aired on the silver screen. Other plans for the brand include expanding its U.S. business following the signing with a new distributor, Fragrances Elite International, last October. Lolita Lempicka will focus on developing its travel-retail business, as well, said Dauphin.
Pacific Creation this year expects to launch a women’s scent for another one of its designer licenses, Parfums Castelbajac. Pacific Creation’s parent, Korean beauty giant Amore Pacific, posted wholesale sales of 1.3 billion euros, or $1.6 billion, in 2006.
