NEW YORK – Close to 100 industry executives came out Wednesday night for the dedication of the Laura and John Pomerantz Presentation Room at the Fashion Institute of Technology here.
Ron Frasch, Josie and Ken Natori, Laurence C. Leeds, Jr., Miriam Ruzow, Marvin Lord, Gilbert Harrison, Jill Doneger and Tom Burns were among those who attended the ribbon-cutting and reception. Joyce F. Brown, P.h.D., president of F.I.T., asked the packed room, “Who could have turned out a crowd other than the Pomerantzes?” She recalled when FIT held a breakfast two years ago in the Pomerantzes’ honor, they raised nearly $100,000 which was used to create the Presentation Room.
Located in the David Dubinsky Student Center, the Presentation Room is furnished with state-of-the-art equipment for all types of presentations, from runway fashion shows to computerized audiovisual displays. Students majoring in F.I.T.’s Fashion Merchandising Management are expected to use the new facility to learn how to create professional presentations.
