PARIS — Lingerie designer Vannina Vesperini staged an evening catwalk show last month inspired by screen legends, such as Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth.
The designer’s trio of eveningwear classics were tuxedo pants, skirt and jacket, which opened the show at the Maison Blanche restaurant here.
“I wanted the collection to have a retro pinup feel with modern touches,” said Vesperini, who also highlighted a navy boxer-bodysuit featuring a cutout in the back, as well as a bra with an embroidered necklace.
Vesperini, whose brand was launched in 1996, relaunched her business in 2004 following the closure of her Right Bank boutique and the restructuring of her company. Now, she’s scouting for a location for a new boutique in the sixth arrondissement here.
“I’m taking things step by step,” said Vesperini, whose brand is distributed in around 80 doors worldwide, half of which are with the Russian lingerie chain Wild Orchid.
Currently in talks to open a corner at French department store Le Bon Marché in July, the designer has also signed a collaboration with French fragrance brand Annick Goutal to create a lingerie line for fall.
“It will feature inner-/outerwear pieces such as cashmere wraps and slips, and the house’s butterfly logo will be a key feature,” she said.
The line will be called Annick Goutal by Vannina Vesperini.
