There’s a certain shade that’s known as Yves Klein Blue. But for Germans it’s also the color of workmen’s overalls. For fall, Hien Le played with both meanings in a subtle, minimalist collection that really worked. Brushstrokes were digitalized into an abstract stripe that livened up women’s white blouses and men’s button downs, which were topped with striped or solid-blue cropped sweatshirts and bomber jackets. Workers got a shout out from flowing apron elements on tanks and skirts, and a cover-all bedecked with pockets.
Le’s soft touch was evident in the peach, camel and gray used for chic wool coats and cropped trousers. Jersey-coated Neoprene in marled gray gave sporty heft to sweatpants, full skirts and a standout look: a fitted yet rounded suit with short drop sleeves.
