Hell’s Angels took on a new meaning in Dorothee Schumacher’s motorcycle-driven fall collection. She borrowed the biker jacket’s distinctive zippers and quilted stitching and placed them freely on skirts, body-hugging turtleneck sweaters, wool town coats, peplum jackets and even a black jacquard evening dress.
But it wasn’t all biker wear — or all black. Schumacher continued her “dress and play” mix-and-match approach to novelty fabrics, texture and shapes, which this season starred A-lines and high waists in shades of golden yellow, red, gray and blue. To wit: her simple two-piece outfits in bright leather or pony skin.
