In Living Color
Like to find out what color-obsessed designers think about the latest color trends? That’s the idea behind Colourlovers.com, where people can post colors or palettes they like, vote on their favorites and send notes to other color enthusiasts. The only hitch: Because everyone’s monitor is calibrated differently, not everyone sees exactly the same color, but printing is more accurate and contributors can specify Pantone numbers to be precise. Pictured here is Takkun by Oz, the most popular palette as of last week. (The name Takkun refers to a Japanese anime series.) The site is “a sort of ‘color trends’ of the world written by the world itself,” said the site’s creator, Darius A. Monsef of Portland, Ore., a Web applications developer who has studied fashion design.
Black Tie
Inspired by the glamour of the Twenties, the Nokia 7280 cell phone marries tech with fashion to the nth degree. The phone slides open to reveal a mirror and a discreet camera lens. When the phone is in use, the mirror becomes the display. Instead of a keypad, the phone features an iPod-like scroll wheel for dialing numbers and navigating lists and messages. The Nokia 7280, which retails for about $600, also responds to voice commands, plays the radio, records sound and plays streaming video. The look is completed with a lacquer-like, high-gloss finish; leather and mirror accents, and a fabric label that says “Nokia.”
Extra Protection
Look like a secret agent and leave the cell phone in a briefcase, clutch or under the table. The $295 Oakley Razrwire combines a pair of superlightweight sunglasses with a wireless cell phone headset based on the Bluetooth standard. Its Class 2 transceiver maintains a clear signal even when the cell phone is 33 feet away.
