Wendy C. Arlin, former chief financial officer at Bath & Body Works, has joined the Kohl’s Corp. board of directors.
Arlin’s appointment is “part of the ongoing board refreshment process at Kohl’s, which continues to bring in relevant, experienced leaders,” the company indicated in a statement Wednesday.
As previously reported, board chair Peter Boneparth will retire from Kohl’s at the end of his current term in May, and will be succeeded by current board member Michael Bender, former president and chief executive of Eyemart and earlier the chief operating officer for Walmart’s global e-commerce business.

Last November, the board appointed Adolfo Villagomez as a new independent director. Villagomez, CEO of Progress Residential, has more than two decades in leadership roles and retail experience, including previously working at The Home Depot, overseeing its $20 billion online business and serving as chief marketing officer for U.S. retail.

Arlin has more than three decades of experience in corporate finance, financial reporting, oversight and accounting, and extensive expertise in the consumer industry. Boneparth said Arlin’s “deep financial, accounting and industry experience adds to the existing strength of the board. Arlin has been appointed to a term expiring at the Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based Kohl’s 2024 annual shareholders meeting and will stand for election by Kohl’s shareholders at that time. She will serve on the board’s audit committee.
With Arlin’s appointment, the board has been expanded to 13 directors, 12 of whom are independent.

This is a brand and business that I deeply respect and I’m eager to serve the company and our shareholders during this dynamic time in the retail industry,” said Arlin, who worked at L Brands Inc. for more than 16 years and stayed with the Bath & Body Works Inc. division when it became an independent company in 2021, serving as executive vice president and CFO when she retired in July.
At L Brands, Arlin served as senior vice president, finance and corporate controller, leading corporate finance, financial reporting, accounting and financial shared services functions from 2005 to 2021. Before that, she spent 12 years at KPMG LLP in the audit practice and ultimately held the position of partner in charge of the central Ohio consumer and industrial/information, communications and entertainment business practices.
