Saks Fifth Avenue will provide a bedding collection for United Airlines’ upcoming “reimagined” international business class program — mimosas, showers and flat-bed reclining seats included — called United Polaris Business Class. Saks did pump up its home offerings on saks.com last year, but the partnership with United is “more about trying to weave ourselves into the fabric of the customer lifestyle,” Marc Metrick, president of Saks Fifth Avenue, told WWD. “One of the things we have been talking about is how to inject the Saks Fifth Avenue brand into people’s lives, beyond just being a place to come by and shop. Travel is what people are interested in and spending money on.” Saks’ bedding for United Polaris, launching next December, is comprised of Saks-logoed quilted duvets, a day blanket, microfiber pillows with custom cases, mattress pads and bed cushions. The partnership with United is the first of its kind for Saks. Past airline partners revolved around reward points for SaksFirst members.
