Garçon by Garçon, the Chinese fashion brand known for infusing mythology symbols with youthful energy, has officially launched its first stand-alone store at Shanghai‘s HKRI Taikoo Hui, a luxury shopping mall in downtown Shanghai.
Occupying a 800-square-foot space on the second floor, the new store sits between Polo Ralph Lauren and the upper-level entrance to Moncler, standing out as one of the first local labels to establish a presence at HKRI Taikoo Hui.
Designed by the Shanghai-based Atelier Guo, the design aims to “engage in a dialogue with traditional Chinese architecture while aligning with the brand’s perspective of discovery through the eyes of an ‘Eastern youth,'” the brand said in a statement.

The entrance of the store features an inverted wooden roof frame, one inspired by the traditional hip-and-gable form found in classical Chinese architecture. Constructed using traditional joinery techniques, the elegant frame criss-crosses into the store interiors, and is connected to symmetrical wooden columns, bringing a piece of deconstructed architectural history to the sleek retail setting.
The store features the brand’s latest “Home Sweet Home” fall 2025 collection, its outdoors line, and lifestyle goods, such as sun-motif ceramic plates made in collaboration with Bonana Casa — a home goods brand founded by one of the company’s former colleagues, Yunnan Jingmai Mountain Bamboo Tube Tea, and Shanxi Embroidery Pendants.
Before launching the store, the brand had been exploring pop-up formats with major Chinese landlords, including Shanghai’s Xintiandi, Shenzhen’s MixC World, and Beijing SKP-S.
The brand was initially introduced to the HKRI Taikoo Hui landlords when it hosted a slow pop-up at Element, a wholesale partner downstairs.
“We’ve always wanted to do our own store, but were not sure if we wanted to be in a shopping mall or on the streets, but the street scene has gotten so crowded lately, that’s why we decided to start here,” explained Dayun Tang, who launched Garçon by Garçon in 2017.
“It was a nice surprise to finally meet our customers in real life; most of them came in pairs, with no age limit,” said Tang.
Garçon by Garçon’s debut at HKRI Taikoo Hui marks part of the mall’s ongoing brand reshuffling initiative.
The revamp began with the launch of Louis Vuitton’s blockbuster retail project, The Louis, which has helped double the commercial district’s retail sales since its opening this summer, according to local media reports.
