Alex Badia has been appointed style director of WWD, a unit of Penske Media Corp.
Badia, who most recently served as WWD’s sittings director and men’s fashion director, will be responsible for overseeing all shoots for men’s and women’s fashion, accessories and beauty.
In this new role, Badia will work with the photo and art departments together with WWD’s stylists and market editors to continue elevating the fashion identity of WWD’s weekly magazine, digital daily and web site.
“Alex’s enterprising skills and creativity can be seen in the success of WWD’s men’s wear coverage, which is an increasingly influential source of emerging men’s fashion,” said Edward Nardoza, WWD editor in chief. “We’re eager to see Alex expand his talent for aligning the right photographer, model and location for visual concepts across all WWD platforms.”
Along with developing and executing story ideas with striking visuals, Badia and WWD’s creative team will also seek to maximize WWD’s access to talent by raising the bar on its celebrity portrait photography.

“I look forward to capitalizing on WWD’s incredible access to talent and brands to further cultivate our first-look coverage across all WWD content,” Badia said. “It’s exciting to evolve our look toward a bigger-picture identity,” especially with a weekly magazine format, he added.
Badia has been with Fairchild since 2002. He joined as an associate editor of Daily News Record, which was shuttered in 2008 and folded into WWD where Badia was named men’s fashion director in 2009.
