U.S. Customs & Border Protection seized more than 800 pieces of fake shorts and jeans in two seizures at the port in Charleston, S.C., last week.
In announcing the seizure on Monday, the agency said the goods were worth an estimated $727,208 at retail.
The first seizure netted 187 pairs of shorts bearing counterfeit Izod logos.
The second seizure included 475 pairs of denim jeans with fake Old Navy logos, and 185 pairs of fake Gap shorts and jeans.
“CBP is a key stakeholder in combating illegitimate trade and seizing counterfeit goods at our borders,” said Robert Fencel, area port director in Charleston.
In fiscal year 2008, CBP seized more than $267 million of merchandise for intellectual property violations.
