NEW YORK — Jeffrey Tweedy has exited Tarrant Apparel Group and its licensed House of Deréon women’s wear label.
Tweedy is said to have left his post as chief executive officer and president of the House of Deréon sportswear collection, which is being developed by Beyoncé and Tina Knowles. He joined Tarrant only two months ago.
Tweedy could not be reached for comment, and a House of Deréon spokesman declined comment.
In February, Tweedy resigned from Sean John, where he had been since the firm’s inception in 1998. As executive vice president of sales and marketing, he was instrumental in building the men’s wear business into a $450 million retail operation.
In late September, when Tweedy announced his arrival at Tarrant’s House of Deréon licensed business, he told WWD: “I’m not building a celebrity brand. I’m building a credible product, and throughout our team, we want to develop great products.”
A source close to the company said a search for his replacement is currently under way.
