Stocks dipped today following last week’s gains, when major indices into striking distance of record levels reached earlier this month. At the bell, the S&P 500 shed 0.17 percent to close at 2,104.42 while the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.06 percent to 18,116.04.
The Dow was trading up for most of the day – driven by a declining U.S. dollar — before investors grabbed some profits. The WWD Global Stock Tracker slid 0.17 percent to close at 116.76.
On Friday, the Nasdaq had reached a 15-year high and nearly wiped out losses that it experienced following the dot-come bubble pop. Today, the Nasdaq closed down 0.31 percent to 5,010.97.
