Stocks were varied at the closing bell today with most indices losing some ground after yesterday’s Federal Reserve-inspired rally. The Nasdaq rose 0.19 percent to 4,992.38 while the S&P 500 shed 0.49 percent to 2,089.27. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.65 percent to 17,959.03. The WWD Global Stock Tracker lost 0.08 percent to close at 115.57.

Of the 100 component stocks of the WWD tracker, 59 stocks advanced, 37 declined and four were unchanged. Guess Inc. was a big winner today, advancing over 16 percent on a strong quarterly report.
On the economic front, investors will be eyeing existing home sales, which will be reported next Monday by the National Association of Realtors. The forecast calls for a slight increase over February, but Wall Street is concerned that the weather is having a more negative impact on key economic indicators.
