PARIS — Investors are getting keen on smaller Paris fashion houses.
Renaud Pellegrino on Wednesday said Holmex, a Martinique-based family holding for the Hayot family, had purchased a majority stake in the French leather goods business.
Also on Wednesday, Franck Sorbier, a small couture house here, said it had sold 34 percent of its capital to Montaigne Fashion Group, which controls the Regina Rubens brand.
Neither Pellegrino nor Sorbier provided financial details of the transactions.
Pellegrino said the Hayot family, which built its fortune in sugar and rum trading, holds stakes in various industry and agricultural interests.
Sorbier said the arrival of his new investor would allow the couturier, popular with bourgeois French, to develop a luxury ready-to-wear line and sign various licensing agreements.
Montaigne Fashion Group said it hoped to take stakes in other fashion brands with the potential for international expansion.
