LONDON — Europe’s stock markets were buoyant in mid-morning trading on Monday, with Milan’s FTSE MIB leading the way.
The Italian market was up 1.2 percent to 22,980.67, followed by the DAX in Frankfurt, 1 percent to 12,015.41; the CAC 40 in Paris, 0.7 percent to 5,047.05, and the FTSE 100 in London, 0.2 percent to 6,776.76.
The euro traded at $1.05, while the pound fetched $1.47 and the Swiss franc equaled $1.00 at 11:00 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were mostly up, with the morning’s biggest risers including Gemfields, 2.4 percent to 0.52 pounds; Ted Baker, 2.6 percent to 26.49 pounds; Moncler, 2.3 percent to 15.69 euros; Salvatore Ferragamo, 3.5 percent to 29.67 euros, and Safilo Group, 5.5 percent to 14.10 euros.
Safilo earlier in the day had outlined its strategic plan for the next six years, including doubling its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization in 2020.
