PARIS — Barbara Bui said revenues fell 7 percent in the first half as a recovery in sales in its own stores failed to compensate for the continued weakness of its wholesale activity.
The Parisian fashion house posted sales of 14.4 million euros, or $19.1 million, in the first six months of 2010, compared with 15.6 million, or $20.8 million, during the same period last year. Dollar figures are calculated at average exchange rates for the period in question.
Sales in its own boutiques rose 10 percent during the second quarter, while the wholesale division saw a 12 percent decrease. For the year as a whole, Barbara Bui expects sales in its own stores to rise by 5 to 10 percent and wholesale turnover to fall by around 15 percent.
