Asian shares finished higher Monday, extending their gains from last week amid a climate of uncertainty for investors.
Shanghai’s SSE rose 2.4 percent to finish at 2,927, outpacing the other indices in the region. Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.9 percent to end at 16,111 while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng advanced 0.9 percent to end at 19,464.
Gainers for the session included Fast Retailing, which rose 0.8 percent to end at 31,760 yen, and Shiseido, which put on 2.2 percent to end at 2,426 yen. Esprit shares vaulted 4.6 percent to end at 8.05 Hong Kong dollars.
Chow Tai Fook bucked the trend, dropping 1.6 percent to end at 4.41 Hong Kong dollars.
