EXCLUSIVE: Lancôme Names Christy Turlington Burns Global Ambassador

She will front Rénergie Collagen Lift-Xtend and Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation campaigns.

PARIS Christy Turlington Burns has been named Lancôme’s newest global ambassador.

The multihyphenate supermodel, maternal health advocate and filmmaker does not often sign on to new projects.

“I’m very selective about the kinds of relationships and partnerships that I enter,” Turlington Burns said in an exclusive interview. “Growing up and even throughout my time in this industry, Lancôme has always been a brand that has stood apart from the others and represented a very timeless classic, grown-up brand. In a way, that was like aspiration for me as a young woman.

“So I feel very honored to have the opportunity to join this incredible group of women and to have a new relationship at this phase of my career,” said Turlington Burns, who is 57. “It’s a unique place to be in.”

She joins a roster that includes Isabella Rosselini, Julia Roberts, Olivia Rodrigo, Aya Nakamura and Joy Sunday.

For her part, Turlington Burns said she is highly interested in Lancôme’s access to remarkable science, research and cutting-edge technology. Lancôme is not just about the appearance of beauty and skin, but is science-forward, too, she added, explaining it is “innovation meeting timelessness.”

For her personal beauty regimen, Turlington Burns is quite consistent in following a “less is more” philosophy. “I like to pick very high-quality products and ingredients, and then try to match my lifestyle with that aesthetic,” she said. “I’m a very practical, on-the-go person. I don’t spend a ton of time on myself.”

Turlington Burns is partial to rich moisturizer. “I’m all about hydration, particularly as you get older,” she said. “But I’ve always had drier skin.”

Turlington Burns uses Lancôme’s Rénergie. “It’s so hydrating, the texture is so wonderful,” she said. “The way that your skin reacts to it is really amazing. I’m all about skin.”

For little imperfections, Turlington Burns is partial to light and transparent products “that feel like a part of you. The foundation and the stick that I love so much do that.”

Lancôme, which is owned by L’Oréal, gravitated to Turlington Burns for multiple reasons.

“She embodies a beauty that moves forward — conscious, confident and deeply relevant to women today,” said Vania Lacascade, global brand president of Lancôme. “Christy isn’t just a supermodel; she’s an activist, filmmaker and advocate, whose life proves that beauty can have real impact.

“With Every Mother Counts, she shows how influence can create change, perfectly reflecting Lancôme’s spirit of optimism, confidence and progress,” Lacascade continued, referring to the Turlington Burns-founded nonprofit maternal health advocacy group. “Christy has an effortless elegance — timeless, but never static. She doesn’t try to impress; she inspires. She perfectly embodies the French effortless femininity Lancôme is known for: sophisticated yet approachable, chic without effort.”

Turlington Burns became a supermodel in the late 1980s. She has appeared on more than 500 magazine covers and graced campaigns for many a top fashion brand. Turlington Burns’ personal experiences inspired her to write, direct and produce in 2010 the documentary “No Woman, No Cry,” then founded the nonprofit Every Mother Counts.

“That’s a big part of my life that is kind of never-ending in terms of the demand and need for communicating what the challenges are and also the solutions,” Turlington Burns said. “It’s a tough time for women and women’s health, so it’s important work that I feel very committed to.”

Lancôme called her not only a respected nonprofit leader, but also a philanthropist, accomplished author and dedicated yogini. “Lancôme has always stood for optimistic, meaningful beauty,” Lacascade said. “Christy expresses that spirit with extraordinary authenticity. The brand celebrates women who act, lead and inspire – not just those who look the part.

“Christy lives fearlessly, using her platform to make a difference,” Lacascade continued. “She brings energy, authenticity and purpose to Lancôme’s ambassador collective inspiring women across generations.”

Turlington Burns is to headline two major launches for the brand, Rénergie Collagen Lift-Xtend Cream and Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation. “With Christy, performance meets effortless beauty, and women everywhere can see themselves reflected in both her presence and the products,” Lacascade said.
