Unilever, the Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant, said Thursday it has entered into a partnership with BioLeap, a New Jersey-based company that undertakes molecular design for product development, to work on products related to “the core biology of ageing.”
Unilever did not disclose the terms of the two-year partnership but noted the collaboration is designed to develop “health-enhancing products.” Unilever owns personal care brands such as Dove, Pond’s and Sunsilk, along with food brands such as Ben & Jerry’s and Magnum.
Geneviève Berger, Unilever’s chief research and development officer, said, “I see the benefit of this collaboration with BioLeap being the development of superior products across a number of categories and exclusivity that will potentially give us competitive advantage in the marketplace.” Unilever said that work on the project will begin immediately.
