CCA is expanding its Nutra Nail treatment brand into at-home nail color with a quick-dry gel color, Nutra Nail Gel Perfect UV-Free Gel-Color.
Gel Perfect looks to go up against salon services that use specialized polish formulas and UV and LED light to offer a quick dry manicure with long lasting results. While Gel Perfect doesn’t guarantee longer lasting manicures, Laurel Dobalo, director of marketing at CCA Industries, said that its polish/activator system promotes healthier nails and will have nails dry in five minutes. And, unlike specialized salon formulas, removal of Gel Perfect takes just two minutes with No Mess Express Gel Perfect Remover, a pouch holding polish remover.
Inside a box of Gel Perfect is bottle of nail color, a bottle of activator and bottle of color cleaner. A coat of activator is applied to five nails on one hand, followed by a color coat to each of those nails, followed by another coat of activator and then another coat of color. The activator coat is not meant to dry before adding the color coat, said Renee Resler, president, The Nail Consultants, who worked with CCA on the product. Before polishing the other hand, the color brush should be left to soak in the color cleaner bottle so as to remove the activator from bristles.
Nails on the first polished hand are dry before the other hand’s manicure is complete, said Dobalo.
Gel Perfect is available in 12 shades and will sell for around $11.99, which provides about five applications, while the remover pouches will sell for $5.99, for five nail polish removals. Items will be available in on-counter displays beginning in October and in permanent nail treatment sets in the first quarter.
