BERLIN — Though Weleda has tapped numerous fragrant plants and essences for products in its 94 years developing natural cosmetics and care products, the Swiss company has never sold a personal fragrance.
The Jardin de Vie line changes that. Launching Oct. 5 in Germany and Austria, the trio of scents takes as its inspiration popular Weleda skin- and body-care lines. Jardin de Vie Rose is from Wild Rose; Jardin de Vie Grenade from Pomegranate, and Jardin de Vie Agrume from Sea Buckthorn. The 50-ml. Äúeaux naturelles parfumes are priced at 19.95 euros ($22). A European launch, and a global rollout, are being planned.
The Weleda perfume line is certified natural and organic, dermatologist tested, and does not contain any mineral oils or synthetic fragrance, coloring or preservatives. The perfume oil concentration of the scents is similar to that of eau de cologne, between 3 and 8 percent, the company said.
