L’Oréal Paris Kicks Off ‘The Brush Contest’

The international makeup competition's finale will be shown on YouTube on May 1.

PARIS — L’Oréal Paris has just kicked off The Brush Contest, which it bills to be the first international makeup competition.

Starting on Monday, candidates could start posting their videos — which may last up to three minutes — featuring a complete makeup look inspired by the theme “color clash” on the YouTube channel L’Oréal Paris France.

The event is open to anyone over the age of 18.

Then on Feb. 18, people will vote online for their favorite videos out of the 50 preselected. Five finalists are to be chosen on March 12 among those by a jury made up of vlogger Enjoy Phoenix, L’Oréal Paris France’s managing director Isabelle Guyony-Hovasse and the brand’s makeup expert in France, Karim Rahman.

Three days later, the winners from each country taking part will be revealed. These are to attend the finale that on May 1 will be shown on the brand’s YouTube channel. Eva Longoria, a L’Oréal Paris ambassador, is to host the festivities, which also is to include finalists making up other brand faces, such as Karlie Kloss and Lara Stone.

The winner of The Brush Contest will be given a year-long contract to be a L’Oréal Paris professional makeup expert, worth 100,000 euros, or $115,485 at current exchange.
