At the Diesel show, makeup artist Key Kabuki for MAC Cosmetics went after a healthy glow that was very practical and not overly dramatic. “It’s that jetsetter healthy skin look,” said Kabuki, who was inspired by Duran Duran’s period “when it was chic to travel the world.” To create the look, Kabuki emphasized the eyelashes and had a defined eyebrow. To create a perfected skin look, he used concealer when necessary together with a mineral skin finish. He also used peach blush on top of a satin finish. He also used full coverage but without looking too heavy. On the lips he used MAC’s Spirit lipstick, that was not shiny but more of a purple and pink beige.
For hair, Laurent Philippon for Bumble and bumble dressed all the models in a red wig. “Since the clothing is so structured and geometric, I didn’t want the hair to be stiff,” said Philippon. “I wanted it to have that messy element and to prevent it from looking to ‘wiggy,’ I gave each of the wigs a razor cut and added a pink color to get rid of the typical red wig color.” Philippon said this gives it a rock ‘n roll feel along with having a look like a Japanese cartoon character. On the wigs he used Bumble and bumble’s sumo wax along with hair powder to create volume.
The nails were polished in a light tan brown cocoa color, which appeared darker the skin’s natural tone.
