Keeping it Fresh at D&G

Pat McGrath, the doyenne of cosmetic wizardry is also partial to a fresh and natural face.

For every flamboyant, theatrical look makeup artist Pat McGrath has brought to life backstage at a fashion show, the doyenne of cosmetic wizardry is also partial to a fresh and natural face. Season after season she’ll do the look for at least one fashion house and, here in Milan, McGrath kicked off fashion week with barely there makeup for D&G.

“She’s a fresh, Glastonbury hippie,” McGrath said about D&G’s face for spring-summer 2008. Though it looked like the models weren’t wearing a scrap of makeup, McGrath used foundation to “pull the skin together,” then added a sweep of light taupe brown in the eye socket “so the girls don’t look dead!” she quipped.

The look was finished off with meticulously groomed eyebrows, natural blush and ultra shiny balm on the lips.
