Industry Meets at InnoCosmetics

Senior executives from a host of cosmetics and consumer products companies gathered in the German capital last week for the two-day InnoCosmetics Europe event.

BERLIN — Senior executives from a host of cosmetics and consumer products companies gathered in the German capital last week for the two-day InnoCosmetics Europe event.

The conference, coordinated by Netherlands-based KGS, brought together top representatives from firms including L’Oréal, Unilever, Procter & Gamble, Symrise, Johnson & Johnson, Sara Lee, DuPont and Merck to discuss brand equity, product innovation, growth segments and green consumers.

Speakers included Coty Prestige’s regional vice president for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Europe, Steffen Seifarth, who discussed growth potential in Brazil, Russia, India and China, or the BRIC countries, and detailed Coty’s recent foray into Russia.

James Clark, a professor from the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence at the University of York, led a thought-provoking discussion on trend incubation that left participants debating the merits of sustainably sourced surfactants and eco-labeling, and wondering whether warming shower gels could help reduce water usage.
