“It’s very ghostlike, romantic and fairy-tale,” said Eugene Souleiman of the hairstyle he created for the Giles show Wednesday.
While braids were at the heart of the look, Rapunzel’s coif it wasn’t. Souleiman, backstage with L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.art, worked in Texture Spray and hairpieces to create fullness, before braiding large sections of hair into fishtail plaits. Stray hairs were allowed to poke through to give a mussed-up effect.
To balance the striking hairstyle, Miranda Joyce, working with MAC Cosmetics, took a softly-softly approach to makeup. “We realized we needed something quite gentle and extremely beautiful and soft,” she said. Joyce used Select Cover-Up to mask any blemishes and redness. She then blended grey and pink shades of shadow on eyelids and added a little mascara on the roots of lashes. Cheeks had a hint of blush in Pink Swoon and cheekbones were accentuated using highlighter.
