On Sunday, Sept. 9, the Flatiron District’s Ted Gibson Salon will host its annual cut-a-thon to benefit Carbon Zero, a hair cutting events that helps the company offset its carbon dioxide emissions. Gibson, who uses wind energy to power his salon, said 100 percent of the money raised from the event will be used to plant trees. Through a specific formula, Carbon Zero is able to figure out the exact number of trees that need to be planted to negate the salon’s carbon emissions. Haircuts at the salon, located at 184 Fifth Avenue, will be priced at $50, down from $95-$150. A cut with Gibson will cost $200, down from $900. Single process and partial highlights are $50, down from $100-$400. Appointments are not necessary, except for a cut with Gibson.
