Clean and Simple Beauty at Nicole Miller

At the Nicole Miller show on Wednesday, Rodney Cutler of Cutler NYC, together with Redken, pulled the hair off the face in a messy bun to create a clean silhouette. “We wanted a clean center part that was simple but with a twisted detail in the back that was still a clean bun but making it a bit messy by pulling it from the inside so it’s not too ballerina-like,” said Cutler. According to Cutler, he’s seeing more design and details in hairstyles this season than he has in the past. Cutler created this look by twisting the bun close to the head and then pulling it out in order to create a sense of dishevelment.

To achieve the look, he used Redken Fabricate Heat-Active Texturizer to help prep the hair followed by the Workforce Flexible Volumizing Spray. Once the hair was blow-dried, Cutler used his new product, Cutler Specialist Fly-away Control Stick to help add shine and control static.

James Kaliardos for MAC Cosmetics did the makeup, which had a sun-kissed matte finish with peach hues on the cheeks. The overall look was inspired by the early-Seventies Twiggy, as opposed to the Sixties, since it’s more romantic but on a contoured face, said Kaliardos.

On the crease of the eyes he used MAC’s Ground Work Paint Pot set and Emote Powder Blush on the lids. The lips were dabbed with Loyal Pro Long Wear with Laid Back Cream Blush pressed in.
