Backstage at Michael Kors Fall 2017

The look was inspired by "the Peter Lindbergh girl," said makeup artist Dick Page.

It was a meeting of the supermodels backstage at the Michael Kors show.

On the top floor of Spring Studios Wednesday morning, a cast of 50 models, ranging from the originals like Amber Valetta to ingénues like Bella Hadid and Taylor Hill, competed for chair time with lead makeup artist Dick Page for MAC Cosmetics.

“The older girls I’ve known forever, and honestly we’re doing less on them [than the younger girls],” said Page, moments after he sent a leather-legging-clad Amber Valetta off to Orlando Pita.

The makeup look was “very Peter Lindbergh girl,” according to Page. “It’s very straightforward — a very strong brow, but not faked out, just filling it in for each girl. There’s a little brown pencil at the lash lines. Girls who are very fair, I put a little color on them. But it’s natural, there’s no color story,” said Page. “I’m mattifying a little, but there’s no powder.”

Page laughed at WWD’s suggestion that the older supers seemed the most calm of anyone in the hectic backstage area. “They’ve done a lot of really crazy shows,” said Page. “This is nothing for them.”

Orlando Pita, who has been mostly absent from this fashion season, showed up to key the Kors show, which is usually on his schedule.

“It’s a middle part and kind of straightened on top and tucked behind the ear and kind of a wave in the hair. I’m using my mousse [on wet hair] first, and then the Full Extend hairspray to keep [hair] behind the ears,” said Pita of the look. A source told WWD earlier in the week that Pita, usually a fashion week mainstay, has been opting out of shows to focus on his Orlando Pita Play hair-care line.

Jin Soon Choi manned the nail station, alternating manicures and pedicures with a black-powder infused nude shade she deemed “new nude.” “I can’t tell you the name because it’s a new color for fall 2017,” said Choi. “[Kors] was looking for a smoky nude that is more cool, not a typical color, that could go on everyone.”
