The landscape and light of the South of France inspired makeup artist Tom Pecheux, who worked on behalf of MAC Cosmetics to create the look at Malandrino. “It’s fresh with a lot of highlights and some flower color,” said Pecheux, who added, “Everything is very gentle, there is no hardness to the face.”
Eyes were framed with a jasmine color, to which a lavender hue was added. Cheeks had a “transparent-beige” look, said Pecheux, while the lips were orange-pink. The overall look, he noted, was reminiscent of a lavender or mauve “geranium petal.”
Hairstylist Odile Gilbert was inspired by the Hopi tribe of Native Americans when she created the hair look at Malandrino. She first pulled hair up into a ponytail that was slicked to the side of the head. She then wrapped it into a spiral bun — “A little donut is done in the hair,” said Gilbert. Then, she wrapped several braided pieces around the base of the bun. “It’s very young,” she said. Gilbert used a generous helping of L’Oréal Elnett to keep hair sleek and in place.
