Glitter, glitter everywhere.
Well, not everywhere — lead makeup artist Pep Gay for MAC made sure of that. “Tadashi got inspired with his collection by Jimi Hendrix, the late-Sixties-early-Seventies women’s liberation and all that fun around that,” he said. For the eye, Gay drew in black lower lashes, and then glued loose glitter between the lash. Glitter color varied by model and lined the waterline of the eye with white pencil. Lashes were doused in MAC’s Bold & Bad Lash. Gay evened skin with Face and Body foundation from MAC, and dusted cheeks with Cremeblend blush in Ladyblush.
For hair, Kevin Ryan for R Session Tools went for bangs “beating them up so they look like they’ve had a bit of fun,” he said, by using Unite Boosta Spray for texture. The rest of the hair was left loose with a slight flat-ironed wave, meant to flow behind the girls as they walked down the runway (which was scented with Tadashi Shoji’s new perfume). “What we’re doing is late Sixties rock ‘n’ roll girl,” Ryan said.
Nails, by LVX, were inspired by the heavier materials of the collection, said Teresa King, who co-led nails with Lisa Lee. The look was a Champagne-bronze called Eiffel, with loose glitter sprinkled on the tips.
