Addison Rae Dons Winged Eyeliner and Punk-inspired Shadow Makeup in her ‘Times Like These’ Music Video

The 24-year-old artist posted a TikTok snippet of her putting on layers of liquid blush on set.

Addison Rae put on a pink, punky face of makeup in the music video for her moody hit, “Times Like These,” directed by photographer Ethan James Green. The single is just one of the 12 tracks on her debut studio album “Addison,” which was released on Friday. In the music video footage, Rae dances across a ferry boat and in a dressing room with pinched cheeks and pouty lips.

On TikTok, she gave her followers a better look at her visage, comprised of winged eyeliner, silver shimmer, and hot pink lipstick. The highpoints of her cheeks and the tip of her nose were covered in a bold magenta blush. Meanwhile, the rest of her complexion was kept even, with little to no contour. The bright hue on her cheeks was also contrasted with dark brown brows.

Makeup artist Jenna Kuchera created Rae’s aesthetic for not only her new video, but for “Headphones On,” too. Kuchera has worked with every major female star from Gwyneth Paltrow to Nicole Kidman. For “Headphones On,” the artist gave Rae crafted similar makeup, adding sparkle accents under her eyes for her grocery store scenes.

Her hair, styled by Lucas Wilson, gets more grandiose as the “Times Like These” video goes on, starting with combed beach waves and ending with mile-high, majorly teased extensions à la Tracy Turnblad in “Hairspray.” The big, blown hair also brought to mind the hairstyles in director Ethan James Green’s recent photograph series, “Bombshell.”

Rae has famously dressed according to the different eras of her music career. For the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards, the internet star immersed herself in the world of “Aquamarine,” another single off her new album inspired by the 2006 fantasy film of the same name. She wore a full Thom Browne ensemble, complete with a plaid sequin skirt and misty blue corset fit like the silhouette of a mermaid. Her blond tresses were waved and parted to the side, while her makeup was embellished with the same blue hues and black brows.
