Fashion is full of little ironies. With the rise of tech accessories, jewelers are again focusing on traditional bracelets. Benny Hematian, president of Effy Jewelry, says “wristwear has been trending up for the past six months, and we see the trend continuing for the next one or two years.” A major focus is that time-honored classic, the tennis bracelet, in part because it layers well with techy fare. Now, jewelers are adding flourishes. Jennifer Shanker, founder of Muse showroom, which represents brands including Silvia Furmanovich and Yossi Harari, encourages designers to experiment with variegated shapes and colored stones. Yet, it’s the bracelet’s venerability that drives its appeal. “In confusing times,” Shanker says, “investments and splurges on the familiar and comfortable make sense to us.”
