Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is one of the most acclaimed and awarded singers of her generation. In addition to multiple Grammy Awards, she has an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Shallow" from the 2018 film "A Star Is Born," in which she costarred with Bradley Cooper.
Before she became the global pop star and actress known as Lady Gaga, the entertainer was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in New York City. She developed her love of music from a young age when her mother put her in piano lessons. As a teenager, she gained early admission to New York University's Collaborative Arts Project 21 program, where she furthered her music education. She dropped out in her sophomore year to pursue music.
In 2009, Gaga moved to Los Angeles to complete her debut album "Fame," whose first two singles, "Just Dance" and "Poker Face," went number one in multiple countries, including the U.S., U.K. and Canada. From the time Gaga came into the public eye she became known for her often avant-garde style.
At the 2010 MTV VMAs, the singer arrived wearing a meat dress designed by Franc Fernandez. She also had a brief friendship with Alexander McQueen before his death. At the end of her "Bad Romance" music video, she wore an outfit from McQueen's penultimate collection "Plato's Atlantis." Before she changed into her famous meat dress at the 2010 VMAs, she wore an unfinished gown from McQueen's last collection as she walked the red carpet with discharged gay soldiers in protests of the U.S.' former Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy banning openly LGBTQIA+ people from the military.
Gaga's affiliation with fashion also translated into her acting career, as she starred as Gucci founder Maurizio Gucci's wife, Patrizia Reggiani, in the 2021 docudrama "House of Gucci." Gaga took home the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress Motion Picture — Drama for the movie.
Throughout her career she's fronted campaigns for Versace, Tiffany & Co. and H&M. She's also launched collaborations with Dom Pérignon, walked the runway for Marc Jacobs and partnered with Cotton On to raise awareness for mental health.
