NEW YORK —?Controversial socialite Paris Hilton has consummated her fragrance deal.
As reported by WWD on May 5, the hotel heiress had signed a letter of intent in early May with Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Parlux Fragrances to develop, manufacture and distribute prestige fragrances and related beauty products under her name. The pact, the company said in May, was subject to the execution of a definitive license agreement, which was signed last week. The deal is effective today, and the first fruits of Hilton’s labor are expected to be out by yearend.
Learning a new position shouldn’t be a challenge for Hilton, who counts Fox’s “The Simple Life,” with a second season starting June 16, advertising for Guess and, of course, a no-clothes-barred sex video among the credits on her résumé.
As Ilia Lekach, chairman and chief executive officer of Parlux, told WWD in a May phone interview: “The beautiful thing about Paris is that she is so well known. She makes news wherever she goes.” He added, “Paris has the right demographics for us, and she has both U.S. and international appeal.”
