NEW YORK — Canadian consumers will be able to order online from Saks Inc. for the first time this holiday season following an agreement between Saks Direct and E4X, a New York-based e-commerce firm.
Saks Direct will implement E4X’s FiftyOne global e-commerce package on the saks.com Website and extend existing services throughout Canada. Previously, saks.com could only ship within the U.S.
“Being able to ship internationally has been a top priority for saks.com in 2008,” said Roger Scholl, vice-president of operations for Saks Direct, “and the FiftyOne solution will allow us to configure and launch a robust offering for our Canadian customers in time for the holidays.”
In 2009, Canadian online spending for retail goods is forecasted to grow 21 percent to $16 billion (U.S.), according to eMarketer.
