LONDON — Helen Brocklebank has been named chief executive officer of Walpole, succeeding Michelle Emmerson, who has stepped down from her role after serving for four years. Brocklebank will take up her post immediately and report to Michael Ward, chairman of Walpole.
Walpole is an alliance of British luxury brands with more than 170 names as members, including Aston Martin, Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Jimmy Choo and Mulberry.
A former publishing executive, Brocklebank is a content consultant for luxury brands, working with a mix of retail and media clients including Liberty and Boat International. Most recently she has been working on projects with labels such as Dior, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Moët & Chandon, Rémy Martin, Wedgwood and Hermès.
She spent much of her career at Hearst and launched partnerships such as Bazaar at Work for Omega, Bazaar Art with Bentley and Esquire’s Man at the Top Awards with Glenmorangie.

“As Walpole enters its 25th year, there are huge opportunities for British luxury,” said Brocklebank. “And we have the platform to ensure its quality, value and contribution to the economy is heard and understood. Above all, we will bring cohesion and collaboration to develop, protect and promote our sector, showing how its creativity, dynamism and craftsmanship represent the very best of what Britain has to offer.”
She said that thought leadership and representation at the highest possible level will continue to be a priority, “whether it be in the complexities of international trading arrangements, the nuances of intellectual property or the benefits of the free movement of people and the importance of diverse teams.”
She said she plans to create high-impact initiatives that showcase the world-leading quality of British luxury and bringing its people to the fore — the makers, the craftspeople, the creatives, the entrepreneurs and the emerging talent. “During my 20-year career in luxury media, I’ve been lucky enough to experience firsthand the passion, excellence and entrepreneurship at the heart of this dynamic sector. British luxury is extremely special and it’s our role at Walpole to amplify its voice.”
