LONDON — European stock markets were mostly up in morning trading on Wednesday, with the exception of Milan, which fell 0.3 percent to 18,981.25.
The CAC 40 in Paris rose 0.5 percent to 4,910.92, followed by the DAX in Frankfurt, up 0.3 percent to 12,001.90. The FTSE 100 in London was up 0.2 percent to 7,289.28.
The euro traded at $1.05, while the pound fetched $1.24, and the Swiss franc equaled $0.99 at 10:00 am CET.
Retail and luxury stocks were mostly up, with the morning’s biggest risers including LVMH Moët Hennessy and SuperGroup both up 1.5 percent to 192.75 euros and 15.03 pounds, respectively. Carrefour SA rose 1.4 percent to 22.62 euros.
Among the stocks that lost the most ground were Jimmy Choo, 1.4 percent to 1.56 pounds; Swatch Group 0.5 percent to 67.45 euros and Asos, 0.3 percent to 52.91 pounds.
