Asian shares declined Wednesday, taking the lead from Wall Street’s sell-off the day before.
The Shanghai SSE lost a relatively contained 0.38 percent to end at 2,739. Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 lost 3.2 percent to finish at 17,191 while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng shed 2.3 percent to end at 18,992.
In Tokyo, Shiseido lost 2.8 percent to end at 2,410 yen. Earlier Wednesday, it announced that it plans to open a new research and development hub in Osaka. Kao shed 2.6 percent to end at 6,278 yen ahead of reporting full-year earnings later Wednesday. Isetan Mitsukoshi, which reported a rise in nine-month profit and sales last week, lost 2.3 percent to finish at 1,510 yen.
Li & Fung shed 1.7 percent to end at 4.51 Hong Kong dollars. Chow Tai Fook lost 2.4 percent to finish at 4.57 Hong Kong dollars. Esprit Holdings dropped 3.4 percent to end at 7.77 Hong Kong dollars.
