Bold Brows and Statement Lips at Tibi

Elegant yet strong women ruled the Tibi runway as stylist Kevin James created a simple statement ponytail and makeup artist Ayako focused on shaped, masculine brows and a summer adaptation of the classic red lip.

Using the catchphrase “business in the front, party in the back,” to describe his mullet creation, James constructed a classy twist on an old standby by creating a high ponytail whose front was shiny and slick, thanks to Bumble and bumble’s Shine Spray, while the tail was spritzed with dry shampoo and hair spray, then back-brushed “for that textured feel and volume.” Finally, a piece of hair was pulled out and wrapped around the base of the tail and pinned. Ayako from NARS pulled out all the sophisticated stops with the focal points being a matte orangey-red lip and filled-in, masculine brows.

Eyes were somewhat subdued in more neutral shades of brown as “the brow is key. It’s a great shape, a kind of masculine eyebrow, very strong. [It’s] the only thing masculine, the rest is very elegant and feminine.” Ayako used both single shadows and brow pencils to create the full look. Lips were colored with Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Red Square and skin was left fresh, with as little foundation as possible. Said Ayako of the look, “I think it is so great, the shaped eyebrow and red lipstick, even like an easy summer look. I think it makes it more elegant with kind of an attitude, in a good way.”
