“I was inspired by fans as they watch sports, so my pieces are an ode to sports lovers around the world – their hearts are always beating fast when they want their team to win, and I wanted to bring that same level of excitement to my collaboration with Champion for Making the Cut,” Brazilian designer Rafael Chaouiche said.
Chaouiche drew inspiration from viewers as they watch sports – their hearts are always beating fast when they want their team to win, according to Amazon Fashion.
Shoppers can mix and match Chaouiche’s versatile Champion separates for a barre-to-brunch moment.
“We celebrate assignment winner, Rafael Chaouiche, who played by his own rules to create pieces that are unique to his personal style, yet designed in a way that spoke to Champion’s iconic heritage,” Teza said.
Chaouiche’s winning Champion challenge look on Amazon’s Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum-hosted “Making the Cut’ fashion-reality show evolves the street-style-ready exercise aesthetic.
“Champion has a long history of empowering emerging designers and working with industry tastemakers is a key part in the products that we produce today,” said Maria Teza, Senior Vice President, Champion North America..
“As more shoppers turn to sportswear for activity and style, we were excited to partner with Champion, an icon in the category, on a special activewear assignment and collaboration with winning designer, Rafael that customers can enjoy all year round,” said Muge Erdirik Dogan, president of Amazon Fashion.
For his winning look, Rafael wanted to create a special piece that captured the DNA of the Champion brand and customers’ hearts.
The streetwear-leaning workout capsule collection of limited-edition complementary styles Rafael designed includes mesh tees, cropped hoodies and wide leg pants that take the athleisure look to the next level.
“With each season of Making the Cut, we aim to create even more surprise and delight moments for viewers, while also expanding selection for our customers,” said Erdirik Dogan.
“When Amazon Fashion approached us with the opportunity to have a collection designed by Making the Cut designers, we jumped at the chance,” Teza said.
Rafael’s winning look and capsule collection of limited-edition complementary styles is available exclusively in Amazon Fashion’s Making the Cut store and on Champion.com on Aug. 19, where customers can also browse Urban Decay and Redken products to recreate the beauty looks from each episode.
“It was really important to me to create a look that not only captured the DNA of the Champion brand, but also captured the hearts of Amazon Fashion’s customers,” says Chaouiche.
Chaouiche successfully merged Champion’s storied brand heritage with his own creative design point of view.
