Y2K styling has hit the fashion scene with force, creating an opening for decades-old brands to reclaim the spotlight.
Baby Phat x Puma’s Mayze low-top sneaker features an all-white quilted leather upper, platform midsole, pink accents and pull tab, and co-branding on the tongue.
The style is one of two footwear offerings.
Meanwhile, the plush Mayze sandal features a hot pink faux fur upper, platform sole, zebra printed insole and criss-cross strap configuration.
The style retails for $75.
The line, awash in baby pink, white and shimmery gold accents, captures the spirit and aesthetic of the times.
Apparel offerings are co-branded with a mixed logo.
The collection is brought to life through a campaign featuring founder and creative director Kimora Lee Simmons.
Branding features Baby Phat’s signature cat logo.
The brands said that the effort draws upon the archetype of the year-2000 It girl, featuring classic silhouettes like cropped baby tees, bike shorts, bralettes, hoodies, sneakers and sandals adorned with Baby Phat and Puma branding, rhinestones and all-over prints.
Bike shorts retail for $30.
Now live, the collection retails for $25 to $110 and is available on Puma’s e-commerce site, as well as Foot Locker and Champs Sports retail stores and online channels.
The brands are slated to continue the partnership with new Puma x Baby Phat styles launching later in 2022.
Following a period of dormancy, Baby Phat—a spinoff of Russell Simmons’ Phat Farm streetwear line— made a return to the mass market in late 2021.
