There were Eighties references galore at Rotate Birger Christensen’s fall 2021 presentation. The label is best known for its photogenic party dresses and it wanted to keep its fun, party-spirit alive here, while also adapting to women’s current at-home lives. The answer came in colorful separates and dresses that featured more stretchy, comfortable fabrics.

Remain is much more subdued than sister brand Rotate, which thrives in evening wear and all things party: Leather separates in muted hues are its bread and butter. But in the spirit of optimism, the label took a leaf out of Rotate’s playbook for fall 2021 and experiment with bold, playful touches such as this head-to-toe tie-dye denim set and animal prints galore.

Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave took the concept of a “Lockdown Show” to new levels, by inviting friends of the brand – models, influencers, creatives – from around the world to style and shoot themselves wearing a look from the new fall 2021 range, filled with chic basics, optimistic pops of colors and a laid-back mix-and-match approach.

“We were excited by the idea of losing control and allowing other creative people to add their vision and personal touch to the AW21 collection. We were hoping for a real and unpolished look that would be like a mosaic of individual expressions coming together as one,” said the designers.

Holzweiler’s popularity has skyrocketed in 2020, with its colorful puffers and cozy knits ticking many needs of the new work from home lifestyle. For fall 2021, the label wanted to make sure it will hold on to its relevance by marrying its cozy basics with new silhouettes like the shearling miniskity pictured here, glossy leather outerwear or loose tailoring – for when the world opens up again.

  • Mark Kenly Domino Tan RTW Fall 2021

Mark Kenly Domino Tan wanted to strip everything back and present a collection that channeled “an inherent sense of thoughtfulness” by way of neutral hues, oversized volumes and luxurious fabrics. This was Scandinavian minimalism at its best, and Domino Tan is getting onto many  international buyers’ radars for his ability to telegraph the much-lauded Scandi approach to dressing in his designs.

There’s a new team in place at By Malene Birger, and its focus is to scale down the label’s collection sizes, while scaling up sustainability and quality.

Its pared back approach is working well so far. For fall 2021 the label presented ultra luxe looks, from all-white co-ords to loose tailoring, that caught many a minimalist eye already.

Stine Goya has embraced electric color and clashing patterns, more than any other Dane. Despite the current minimalist wave in fashion, Goya wanted to stay true to herself and offer an antidote to the sea of black, white and beige overtaking virtual shop floors with candy-colored knits and extra loud patterns splashed all over puffers, dresses and silk separates.

Soulland is all about evolution rather than revolution, so for fall 2021 the label looked back to the “family of textiles” it returns to season after season, reimaging old favourites like the bomber jacket and a rose print from previous seasons, which has been abstracted and printed all over puffers, silk shirts and trousers.
