Erin Parsons created various looks for the Jean Paul Gaultier show. “We’re doing this wild, smoky eye in different colors — red, blue, orange, yellow,” she explained. “Then there’s this freckle look. We’re blending around the eye, and then I’m going to take this little freckle liquid color, and we splatter it on the face with a toothbrush [so] it becomes an extension of the eye. You have little freckles going up and down. I’m calling them ‘fleckles.’” Another makeup creation entailed rectangles of metallic colors extended over models’ eyelids. “I also have some stunning natural [looks],” said Parsons. — Jennifer Weil

Linda Cantello, Giorgio Armani Beauty’s international makeup artist, said the Armani Privé fashion collection was extremely colorful. “Mr. Armani wanted a very neutral, very natural — extremely natural — look, as if an un-retouched face,” she said. “At the last moment, we are just going to pop the lip with like a neon-y pink, just in the middle. You don’t really see it. It gives a [third] dimension.” — Jennifer Weil

Peter Philips, creative and image director of Christian Dior makeup, explained he “went for double eyeliner that is separated by a trace of gold. It’s actually not a whole eyeliner — it is just at the edge of the eye. Two little wings.” Some models’ eyebrows were slightly enhanced. Otherwise their skin was made to look natural, using Dior products such as Backstage Face & Body Foundation. — Jennifer Weil

Makeup artist Tom Pecheux explained that he crafted a “kind of cat eye, but done in more of a taupe-y, nude color.” He swiped black mascara on models’ eyelashes and then to get the cat eye, used a thick eyeliner “to extend the eyes; it kind of melts into the black corner. It’s quite a gentle, soft, sophisticated look,” said Pecheux, adding that eyebrows were polished and lips left nude with a bit of shimmer on them. — Jennifer Weil

“The makeup is very fresh — natural skin, slightly pulled together with light eye shadow, highlights. Then we’re doing on just a few girls at the end a beautiful black glittered wing and also some shimmer on the eyelids,” said Pat McGrath. “It’s very simple, very pared-down, with just a little accessory in the eyeliner.” — Jennifer Weil

For most models at Schiaparelli, the makeup look was focused on their skin. “It’s really just like out of the shower,” said Erin Parsons. “Fresh, which I love because they look glowing and natural.” She used lots of moisturizer on models’ faces. One had faux jewels affixed to her face, neck and chest, echoing those of the dress she sported. Another model had black and blue fake stones decorating her arms, while a third had hers featuring gold embellishments. — Jennifer Weil
