Socks: After years of cropped pant styles show- ing off men’s bare ankles, the return of the dress sock is one of the major vic- tories. Put those half-socks away and wear proper calf-length socks but, please, no more bright polka dots.
Complex carbs:
After a decade of no carbs after 2 p.m., guys can return to munch- ing pretzels, potato chips
and bread. (But stay away from refined sugars at all times: swim- suit season isn’t that far away.)
Underwear brands: Break out the boxers, boys. It’s time to give perfor- mance under- wear — not to mention thongs and going com- mando — a break. Your anatomy
will thank you and, who knows, maybe your voice will even get deeper again.
Cuff links: The wider sleeve allows for a French cuff shirt and the overall sensibility wel- comes trappings such as cuff links. But stay away from the exces- sive Nineties bling-bling.
Jock-itch creams: Tight suits rubbed a lot of men the wrong way.
Razor blaze consumption: With the come- back of the sock, there’s no more need to shave legs, so going “au naturale” is back in fashion.
Short-rim fedoras: The trendy and annoying hat worn so often with the skinny suit is finally going back into storage.
Tailor repair shops: Men squeezing themselves into superskinny pants often got them ripped
— and we’re talking about the trousers, not their muscles.
