Zhang Dayi, is one of China’s most successful internet celebrities. She runs fashion stores on Taobao, Alibaba’s C2C website.

She credits having easy access to manufacturing, good management, and an online platform like Taobao as reasons for her success.

Zhang modeled for years and had a following of 200,000 before she set up her store. Now she has over 5 million.

Last year, it was reported that Zhang earned a staggering $46 million, more than double what China’s best known actress Fan Bing bing took in.

While she’s cornered the China market, Zhang’s team have been looking overseas to places like Singapore, South Korea, and Japan to build a following too.
